Looking for something else I had to browse through my 2011-2012 sketches and I felt like colouring some of them.
I hope it's holding the violin the right way. If not, please be understanding - it's difficult already to be a rat playing violin, let alone to be a rat holding the violing the right way AND playing it.

Textures are from webtreats :)

I really love this. Partly because of the colours, partly because of how well you've done the sketch, partly because it seems so rare to see THIS type of anthropomorphism (in that it's acting like a little human but it's still a rat) and partly because of childhood memories. I spent a large portion of my childhood watching things like An American Tail: Fievel Goes West and The Secret of NIMH, so I seem to have developed a soft spot for cartoon rodents. :giggle:

I do like the expression and the inclusion of the musical notes and lines, you can tell they're there but they're very unobtrusive. I also like how the sketch is quite... "raw," I suppose is the word. It's refined but not too refined, so you can still see all of your lines and expression. If that makes any sense. I just seem to have a thing about seeing all the pencil-/penwork, it's why I like da Vinci's stuff. Quite like the original uncoloured sketch as a standalone, too, actually.

All in all, it's good stuff.

Found this through #Stylized-Animals, just letting you know so that you know that having stuff in a group can create traffic.

Aww, these are lovely examples. I really loved especially the way rats were portrayed and animated in NIMH, the body language and cartoony stylisation was so appealing :3

The group is great for the kind of art I like, both for animals/anthros and people characters. I find so much art to love there :)

And yes, I'm a rather sloppy sketcher, but I try to make it an advantage, as well as sometimes producing something less sloppy :)

Thank you for the kind words!

They are wonderful pets! Cleaner than dogs or cats, oftentimes friendlier to boot! They're so sweet and smart! You can teach them to do all kinds of tricks--sit, stay, play basketball, etc--and they are so much more intuitive than any other pets we've ever had.

My mum once had a mole on her shoulder... Two of our rats would climb up on her shoulder and they wouldn't stop licking at it. We couldn't figure out why; mum decided to go to the doctor, 'cause, why not?, and got it checked out. Turns out, it was a cancerous mole! Sango and Kawaii (the two rats) had been trying to tell us it was toxic the entire time!

But, yeah. I give pet rats a 10 out of 10. =D Totally awesome pets. <3
